How it works

Every school in Bristol is invited to enter the competition by submitting paintings from pupils who donate a minimum £1 entry fee which goes to help children with cancer – the idea being children helping children. Entries are collected from participating schools by the Young Art Bristol committee of volunteers who sort them into School Year categories for judging. The entries are then judged by local Art Galleries, with 300 entries being selected for the final exhibition.

All exhibited pieces will be mounted and exhibited, with the winning entries being professionally framed. Prizes will be awarded for First, Second, Third and Highly Commended in each age category and will be presented at the Awards Ceremony.

The sale of pictures is by way of voluntary donation and postcards can be ordered of all exhibited pieces with the name of the artist on the reverse. All the art materials, framing, prizes and programme advertisements are generously donated by the sponsors of the event.

About Young Art Bristol

Young Art was started 21 years ago and is now the largest annual Exhibition of its kind in London, where young artists have the chance to exhibit their work at the Royal College of Art, one of the most prestigious venues in Britain, in aid of Cancer Research UK.
Due to its continued success, Cancer Research UK have opened up the opportunity for all schools in Bristol to take part. Young Art Bristol is a brand new campaign for 2011 and will hopefully run for may years to come!
Young Art Bristol 2011 aims to raise in excess of £5,000 for Cancer Research UK for its research into the genetic causes of cancer in children. It is a wonderful opportunity for young talents to help others of their own age whose futures are not quite so assured. The concept of Young Art Bristol is brilliantly simple as all the work is voluntary and all materials required to mount the exhibition are donated which allows the overheads to be minimal, therefore virtually all of the money raised goes direct to the charity.

Entrance is £2 (over 18s), to include a copy of the programme.
