Sideways Looks Film and Media Festival

Venue: Paintworks Event Space

Media & Cultural Studies and Film & Journalism students from the University of the West of England will be showing their critical media production work at their annual exhibition at Paintworks Event Space.

Friday 18th May, 7pm - 10.30pm, Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th May 10am - 5pm. Free Entry.

The popular annual Sideways Looks event is the degree show of students studying Media and Cultural Studies, and  Film Studies at the University of the West of England, Bristol. Students work in print, web media, digital film and video and photography. They set out to produce innovative work informed by a theoretical, critical understanding of contemporary culture.

In past years, work shown here has gone on to win awards, and students have developed successful careers in media production, design and research. This year the show takes the form of a two-day media festival, with new photography and interactive work on show, and a schedule of screenings of short digital films running throughout the day. The programme includes documentary, fiction, and experimental work in the different media.
