Heart + Soul is Jody's most ambitious show to date, a collection of over thirty new canvases which looks ever deeper into the silence, finding his subjects still uneasy in their own skin, even if it is now imbued with more human, lighter hues.
The show is being produced by Mike Bennett, one of the co-founders of See No Evil, the successful international street art festival which has taken place in Nelson Street over the last two years.
All canvases are available to buy and prices range from £650 to £1200.
Jody has previously exhibited at the Royal West of England Academy, View Gallery and had two sell out solo shows at the Weapon of Choice Gallery. Although not officially 'Graffiti' in the strict and traditional sense of the word he considers himself more an aerosol artist. His work crosses age and cultural barriers and takes inspiration from popular culture, photography, film, music and TV.
Jody began painting in 1988 at the now infamous Barton Hill Youth Club in Bristol, widely acknowledged for nurturing Bristol's first generation of graffiti writers which gave rise to the likes of Banksy and Inkie.
As a teenager Jody developed a strong black and white figurative style. His early work, often depicting brooding, sometimes unnerving portraits, demonstrated a clear talent for creating photo-realistic pieces with a technical competence and maturity way ahead of his teenage contemporaries.
Jody handed in the aerosol cans in return for a mac and mouse and has spent much of the last decade working in design, developing his own branding and art direction business.
