Expressions 2010

Tuesday 05 October 2010

Expressions 2010 is a fantastic contemporary arts event designed to bring out the creativity of visitors as well as exhibiting artists.

Tuesday 5th July, 7.30pm - 9pm | Wednesday 6th - Thursday 8th, 11am - 8pm | Saturday 9th October, 11am - 3pm. Free entry

Building on the success of Expressions 2009, which attracted over 1,500 visitors, this year’s event places a special emphasis on making the arts accessible and interactive for everyone. As well as a major exhibition, there will be a cardboard cinema showing original film and animation, a giant interactive puppet, a camera obscura, music, poetry and street art workshops, a theatrical fashion show, knitted sculpture, costumed photography and Tall Story writing.

Organised in collaboration with Studio Upstairs, Expressions 2010 showcases a range of astonishing talent and creativity, with exhibitions of work by the people who use Aspects and Milestones Trust’s services. There will be something to see and do for the whole family, whether it's trying your hand at French knitting, climbing into the camera obscura or writing your own ‘tall story’. Come along and enjoy this colourful free event!

Aspects and Milestones Trust supports those with learning disabilities and mental health needs to live fulfilling lives in the community. As part of Expressions, we arrange for practicing artists to provide mentoring, and run workshops and longer projects, to develop people’s work and ambition. Many of the projects, such as the animations and photography, are the result of workshops that have been going on throughout the year. Our aim is to support individuals and groups to exhibit, and be a part of Bristol’s thriving arts scene

Expressions 2010 begins on Monday 4th October with a Private View and charity auction, led by prestigious Bristol architect George Ferguson CBE.
